The Health & Safety Executive advise that audits should be conducted
by competent people independant of the area or activity being audited.
The audit is an analytical evaluation of the way you manage health and
safety
at work that will identify strengths and weaknesses and will provide a
base
from which to develop an action plan.
The technique has been identified by the Health & Safety Executive
as an essential feature in improving safety perfomance.
There is a direct link between the success and profitability of an organisation
and the existence of an effective health and safety structure.

- DETERMINE WHETHER YOU'RE COMPLYING WITH STATUTORY OBLIGATIONS
- EVALUATE EXISTING MANAGEMENT SYSTEMS
- RECOMMEND A STRATEGY TO IMPROVE STANDARDS
- PRIORITISE ANY NECESSARY REMEDIAL ACTION
- REDUCE THE RISK OF ENFORCEMENT ACTION AND CLAIMS
